The big rectangular mass of light in the middle is known as a 'wall of light', perhaps made by Kino Flo though I can't seem to find anymore information about it. This was taken at Ealing studios, in studio 3. At the time they could have been filming Descent 2, so this might have been just before they started building the set for one of the scenes.
In the photograph, do you see the floor area near the back, the area where all the people are standing on? Rumour has it that underneath is a swimming pool, used in the past to film boat scenes and the like. I don't know which films, haven't watched any.
